That’s right, it’s Beat ‘n’ Soul →
November 5 - 6, 2010
Off Broadway
3511 Lemp Ave, St Louis, MO
Doors at 5:30 PM, Show at 6:00 PM
What did the Everly Brothers know in 1965, when they named their album Beat and Soul? They knew that both the new beat music and rhythm and blues emerged from the same primordial ooze…and they knew that they wanted to keep your heart pumping and your feet dancing.
That’s the inspiration for Beat ‘n’ Soul…a showcase of modern garage rock and soul music and every kind of intersection of the two. For two nights at St. Louis’ fabulous Off Broadway club, fuzz guitar, soul shouters, pulsing drums, and wailing sax will combine to celebrate the fact that a good tune and a solid rockin’ sound are timeless. It’s brought to you by the coolest record store around, Euclid Records, and some of the folks behind Twangfest, which for over a decade has established a reputation for being the most fun, most fan-friendly destination for music lovers anywhere.
The premiere lineup looks to be one hell of a way to start…from legendary garage rock (The Fleshtones) to white-hot soul (Charles Walker and the Dynamites), from Memphis (the Bo-Keys) to Detroit (The Sights), from crooning (JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound) to screaming (Mondo Topless). Yes, from the first blast of horns on Friday November 5 to the last scream of a classic 60’s organ on Saturday November 6, Beat ‘n’ Soul will showcase some of the most REAL music America has to offer. We hope you’ll join us.
